is a day that Springfield residents will not soon forget. The community is still mourning the loss of 10-year-old Hailey Owens – the fourth grader whose smile beamed from TV screens for hours as the Springfield Police Department and the rest of the city frantically searched for her. Time, however, was on nobody’s side.
As the family fights for a change in the Amber Alert system, we still remember the girl who brought a community together through her footprint.
